Using keycastr software#
With this tool, you can visually tell your keystrokes when you take a video of how to use software such as Illustrator or Photoshop. You can choose to display all keystrokes or command keys only, and there is also an option to include mouse clicks. Ke圜astr enables you to share your keystrokes when creating screencasts, presenting, or collaborating with others. There are seven alternatives to Ke圜astOW for Windows, Mac and Linux. Ke圜astr, an open source keystroke visualizer. The little icon at the bottom is only brightened when you press that key. Ke圜astOW is described as keystroke visualizer for Windows, lets you easily display your keystrokes while recording screencasts and is an app. Then you will see a keystroke with a black background. Using keycastr install#

Go to > on your mac and press the “plus” button to add “Ke圜astr.app”. You can’t use it right away after installation. In the page, click on the red square link to start the download.

The “shortcut key” is also displayed, and in “Svelte” mode, you can see which keys you are pressing: “shift”, “command”, “option”, or “control”. It shows the keys you press on the screen. Keycastr uses Growl-style notifications to show all keystrokes across.

It’s not fun When I run my Core Vim Masterclasses I use Keycastr to show what I’m doing in realtime. The fact is that I add them by hand in post-production. It’s a handy free software that can show viewers what kind of shortcuts you’ve used, which keys (shift, command, etc.) you’re holding down while operating, and other complex keystrokes. I sometimes get asked what software I use to reveal the Vim keystrokes in my video tutorials here on.
